See original Star Trek on the Big Screen
On Tuesday Nov 13th in 300 theatres across the country The original remastered for Hi Def Star Trek episode "The Menagerie" will be shown in theatres with digital projector capabilties. Anyone setting up some mini con type events around there showing? I think it's a pretty neat idea and I think Theatre owners should be more open to these type of off beat things to get people back into the cinema. Anyway complete details and a listing for cities participating can be found at Fathom Events

back home
back home from Anime Iowa. The Coralville Marriot is one of the nicest hotels i've ever had the pleasure of going to a con at. I can not wait for ICON there this november. Im even running two panels there. Anime Iowa was once again a very nice con to attend and I enjoyed the non anime panels the most including a wonderful Tea Ceremony run by Jeff Wallace. I will get pictures up tommorow. I hope!

Anime Iowa Venturing out.
I'm heading to Anime Iowa this weekend to realize how old I am. Anime cons are the cons where you deal with people anywhere from 8 to well my age. Im old at this con and that's just weird. But I'm o.k. with that, because it means Im the hip 'old' guy. UGHH... That was painful to write. That's alright though because this year there is a track of panels for old anime. Meaning the stuff I actually remember and not Naruto, or Fullmetal. Stuff that came out before the internet and you paid twenty dollars for 30 mins of animation. What world were we living in when $20 seemed reasonible for an episode of Tenchi Muyo? On VHS? anyway this is my second trip to Anime Iowa and it's only ten minutes down the road at the beautiful new Marriot. Bring the Pocky, Im ready.

Of all the cons, nothing fuels the geek fires like San Diego Comic Con. No matter what your vibe their will be something announced here that sets you off, be it a movie, a new comic, a new video game, and even brand new got to find on ebay toys. So what are you looking forward to the most? Me Im looking forward to Star Trek 11 news, as I really hope JJ Abrams knows what he is doing.

CoNvergence 07 review.
CONvergence is by far still my favorite convention. It offers enough of the big events most conventions offer and it's very unique in it's presentation of it's room parties. I think most of that is a benefit of the layout of the hotel as the Sheraton lends itself very well to the the masses at CONvergence. We had a longer than expected trip to get to CONvergence on Friday but once there everything was fun. Saw just a few panels on Friday before heading to the opening ceremonies. Then it was off to the room parties. Some of the best ones worth noting, were Willy Wonka's night out (AGAIN) Dystopia 2007, and the Mos Icee cantina. Saturday we got to go to alot more panels, and then the Masquerade as well. Didn't feel like the Masquerade was as good this year. Partied a little bit but not too late like most of the con. Got up sunday and attended a few more panels, saw a few luke ski songs, and thanks to staying one extra night got to go watch Serenity in Cinema Rex. What a great weekend. Can't wait to go again in 2008, for FOUR DAYS!
